About Me
Working in the hair industry has been a passion of mine since 2000. Graduating high school with a Cosmetology license, I jumped in head first. I started in corporate salons, gaining some training in business and managing two locations. After realizing how much I missed the art of hair I set out to find a locally owned more creative environment. Landing in Grand Rapids at Echo Salon changed my life forever. It was here that I really fell in love with cutting and had the opportunity to be trained by one of the most talented artists I know. Over the course of my five years with Michael Deem he taught me how to set myself apart in hair and in life. It was also here that I developed a love for teaching and sharing my passion with other stylists. I became an independent educator for Pureology which later turned into an opportunity to be a full time educator for Loreal. Working for Loreal opened my eyes to my love of color and helped me to further my desire to share the wealth of knowledge. Once I became a Mom it was clear that I could no longer spend weeks at a time in New York or on the road teaching classes… so I once again settled into Grand Rapids. Just before the birth of my second baby I was fortunate enough to become the owner of the beautiful Salon Lark. Owning my own salon shed a whole new light on the industry for me and I will forever be grateful to everyone who went on that journey with me. When it came time to close the doors there was only one place I could imagine myself working… Echo. I spent another six years in my home salon. When Echo transitioned into a new season with new owners I decided it was time for me to start a new chapter as well. I headed to Gaslight Village in East Grand Rapids and developed my social media and content creation skills at The James Salon… but now you will find me in my Hair Studio where I can be close to all my kiddos. I thank God every day for my winding path through my career. I am grateful to everyone I have met and shared this amazing, artistic, one-of-a-kind profession with and I am hopeful that it will be a long and winding road in the future.
